iOS 26.6 Adds Malicious iMessage Warning

Apple is adding a new "Malicious Message Detected" warning in iOS 26.6, according to @limpless_skelly who shared a mockup. The pop-up warns users that a message could harm their iPhone or compromise privacy, with options to "Share With Apple," "Not Now," or "Don't Report."

Code in iOS 26.6 Beta 5 confirms the feature, though it's unclear what triggers it. It likely responds to sophisticated exploits and phishing attempts. Apple previously added the BlastDoor sandbox in iOS 14, but a 2021 zero-click exploit (Pegasus) circumvented it.

Since then, Apple introduced Lockdown Mode and iMessage Contact Key Verification for extra security. However, the alert resembles fake Safari pop-ups, potentially confusing users. With five betas released, iOS 26.6 nears public launch around late July.
