Apple Unveils Siri AI with On‑Device Search and Visual Insight

Apple rolls out a revamped Siri that blends chatbot‑style dialogue with deep device knowledge. The update ships in iOS 27, iPadOS 27, and macOS Golden Gate but is currently locked to developers. Users can now query emails, photos, and files through a single voice request, and Siri can browse the web for answers.

Siri now leverages a rebuilt search index that pulls from on‑device data, giving it an edge over rivals like Claude or ChatGPT. It can also read the screen in real time, answer where an Instagram photo was taken, and use visual intelligence built into the camera app. The feature set expands with the new AI model.

The assistant appears in a new glassy bubble on the Dynamic Island, popping up when users say “Hey Siri,” hold the side button, or swipe down from the top center. Responses surface in the same area, and tapping a reply reveals more detail or lets users ask follow‑up questions.

Apple’s Siri app syncs conversations across devices, letting a dialogue start on an iPhone and finish on a Mac. The beta, limited to devices that meet Apple Intelligence requirements, demands an iPhone 15 Pro or newer. Public beta is slated for July, with full consumer release expected in September.
