Siri AI launches in iOS 27 with personal data integration

Apple overhauls Siri in iOS 27, rebranding it as Siri AI and enabling back‑and‑forth conversations and multi‑task requests. The feature is already in the beta and will roll out to all devices this fall, delivering the personal data access promised at WWDC 2024—emails, messages, photos and files. Users can ask Siri to locate a movie recommendation or pull a flight confirmation number without leaving the app.

Siri AI taps the Apple Intelligence semantic index to understand context, browse the web, read on‑screen text and analyse images. App Actions let it draft emails, add calendar events or route directions through third‑party apps that support the feature. The system requires devices with Apple Intelligence, starting at the iPhone 15 Pro, and will launch without support in the EU and China.

A new Search & Ask interface replaces Spotlight, accessible from the Dynamic Island or side button, and a dedicated Siri app stores conversation history across iOS, iPadOS, macOS and watchOS. Write with Siri drafts documents and proofreads text using an on‑device model that also powers a customizable voice on the iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone Air. With on‑device processing and Private Cloud Compute, Apple keeps user data private while positioning Siri AI as a genuine chatbot rival.
