Samsung to bring Galaxy S26 camera feature to S25 flagships

Samsung is reportedly planning to bring its Virtual Aperture feature from the upcoming Galaxy S26 series to last year's Galaxy S25 lineup. The feature, which allows users to artificially simulate different apertures and adjust background blur intensity, currently works only on the main camera of S25 devices through the Expert RAW app.

Virtual Aperture would be particularly useful for telephoto shots, where controlling depth of field is crucial for portrait photography. The feature was initially requested by users online, prompting a Samsung executive to confirm the company is exploring the possibility. Since Virtual Aperture is entirely software-based, it could be delivered through a future update without requiring hardware changes.

The move represents Samsung's willingness to bring next-generation camera capabilities to existing devices, potentially extending the useful life of flagship phones. This follows a trend of software-driven photography enhancements that don't require new hardware, similar to how computational photography features have evolved across smartphone generations.
