Samsung has begun mass production of the Exynos 2700 chipset, according to Korean publication The Elec. The company has set the production target more than 10% higher than the Exynos 2600 target to account for the new Galaxy S27 Pro. The Galaxy S27 Pro, along with the vanilla and plus models, will use the Exynos 2700 in Korea and Europe, while switching to a Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 chip for the US and China.
The Galaxy S27 Ultra remains undecided. Samsung System LSI, which designs the Exynos chips, is pushing for its adoption on the top-tier phone to boost earnings and signal chip quality. Samsung MX, the phone-building division, has the final say, weighing benchmark and thermal performance, Qualcomm chip prices, and Exynos 2700 production capacity.
Internal testing showed the Exynos 2700 beats the Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 on multi-core Geekbench by 9.5%, but Snapdragon leads in single-core. The Exynos 2700 is fabbed on Samsung's SF2P, a second-generation 2nm GAA node, offering 12% performance improvement, 25% power reduction, and 8% area decrease over SF2. It likely uses Arm C2 CPU cores.
Mass production to final product takes three-four months, timing well for a February or March Galaxy S27 series launch.
