S27 Pro Splits Chipsets: Exynos Dominates Globally

Samsung's upcoming Galaxy S27 Pro will adopt a dual-chip strategy, utilizing the Snapdragon chipset exclusively in select regions, likely North America. The rest of the world will receive devices powered by the new Exynos 2700 processor. This move differentiates the S27 Pro from its Ultra sibling, which is confirmed to feature the Snapdragon Elite chip globally.

The Exynos 2700 represents a notable advancement, fabricated on Samsung's SF2P node. This process promises a 26% reduction in power consumption and a 15% increase in clock speeds over the previous SF2 node used for the Exynos 2600. Samsung is also reportedly shifting to a Side-by-Side layout for the DRAM and chipset, moving away from stacked designs. This configuration, connected via a silicon interposer, aims to improve heat transfer by placing components adjacent to each other rather than stacking them.

While early benchmark figures for the Exynos 2700 were not overwhelming, they were conducted on a test sample running at significantly lower clock speeds than its potential. The reported maximum clock speed for the Exynos 2700 is 4.2GHz, a substantial jump from the Exynos 2600's prime core. This chip segregation strategy highlights Samsung's ongoing efforts to optimize performance and thermal management across its device lineup, though it may lead to regional performance variations for consumers.
