Samsung Galaxy Tab S12 to Use MediaTek Dimensity 9500

Samsung is planning to equip a future device with MediaTek's upcoming Dimensity 9500 processor, according to code discovered in the company's AI Core app. The code references the new chipset by its model number, confirming Samsung's continued partnership with MediaTek for at least one upcoming product. This marks a notable shift from Samsung's typical reliance on Qualcomm and its in-house Exynos chips for flagship devices.

Industry observers believe the Dimensity 9500 will power the Galaxy Tab S12 series, following the Tab S11's use of the Dimensity 9400+. Samsung unveiled the Tab S11 lineup in early September, suggesting a similar release window for its successors. Reports from earlier this year indicated both the Galaxy Tab S12+ and Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra are in development, continuing Samsung's alternating release strategy between vanilla and Plus models.

The move signals MediaTek's growing foothold in the premium tablet market. Once primarily associated with budget and mid-range devices, MediaTek's Dimensity lineup has steadily climbed the performance ladder, now competitive enough to land a spot in Samsung's flagship tablet family.
