Samsung Addresses Galaxy S26 Ultra Red Screen Issue

After the launch of the Galaxy S26 Ultra, online reports surfaced about a red screen problem. Until now, the cause was unclear, and many speculated it was a hardware issue with the first‑generation Privacy Display OLED. Samsung issued an official statement, and an executive explained the real cause: it is not a hardware fault but a software‑related color balance shift when the OLED is exposed to strong ambient lighting.

To fix the issue, Samsung is developing a software update that will correct the color balance. The update is not yet available, so users who need a quick solution may need to visit a Samsung service centre. While the problem is annoying, it is reassuring that the OLED itself is not defective and the fix is straightforward.

Samsung’s statement, however, does not explain why the issue appeared after some time or why the red/magenta hue appears only in parts of the display. The company remains uncertain, and customers await the update. Samsung emphasized the issue doesn’t affect performance or battery life, and there’s no physical damage.

Users can check Samsung forums for the patch. In the meantime, lowering brightness or enabling night mode may reduce the hue.
