Samsung is reportedly rolling out its August 2026 security update for Galaxy S26 users, including a fix for the red screen or 'red stain' problem affecting the Galaxy S26 Ultra at maximum brightness. The update began rolling out in South Korea first, as is typical for Samsung, with users on its Korean community forum confirming the patch via screenshots. Sam Mobile and Tarun Vats on X reported the update includes the long-awaited fix for the display issue.

Samsung's changelog notes seven 'Critical' and 30 'High' level security fixes, including protections against device inoperability and SIM card access exploits. The red stain issue stems from the Privacy Display feature, a software-based technology introduced in the S26 Ultra that has also caused the screen to appear noticeably darker than the S25 Ultra. Samsung officials have informed Korean users the fix is now deploying.

The patch is expected to reach U.S. devices late in August or into September. Android Central advises S26 Ultra users to monitor for the update, noting the fix should resolve the red band or strip issue seen under bright conditions.
