iPhone Fold 3D Printed Hinge Report Suggests Apple Follows Oppo's Lead

A new report suggests the upcoming iPhone Fold will use a 3D printed hinge to minimize its display crease, following a similar approach pioneered by Oppo's Find N6. This marks the first specific detail about 3D printing being used on the iPhone Fold's hinge, which has previously been rumored to feature liquid metal and dual-layer glass. While Oppo's Find N6 achieved a 'zero-feel crease' using 3D liquid polymer applied to its Titanium Flexion Hinge, Apple's adoption of this technology isn't entirely new.

Apple already employs 3D printed titanium casings for its Apple Watch series and the iPhone Air's USB-C port. The 3D printing process offers efficiency and reduced material usage compared to conventional forging. This development indicates Apple is prioritizing crease reduction in its folding device, aiming to match the experience set by competitors like Oppo.
