Honor Robot Shatters Human Marathon Record

An Honor robot has achieved a historic milestone by winning a half marathon and breaking the human world record. The robot completed the 21km (13mi) distance in just 50 minutes and 26 seconds, surpassing the previous human record of 56 minutes and 42 seconds set by Ugandan runner Jacob Kiplimo last year.

This victory marks a dramatic improvement from the previous year's event, where only 6 of 21 participating robots finished and the winning robot took twice as long as the human champion. The Honor robot not only beat the human winner by more than 10 minutes but also demonstrated superior autonomous navigation capabilities. Forty percent of robots navigated independently, with Honor's models securing gold, silver, and bronze positions.

The achievement comes as China actively promotes humanoid robot development across various applications, from factory work to battlefield use. This technological leap signals a new era in robotics, where machines are rapidly closing the gap with human athletic performance. The event showcased both the potential and current limitations of humanoid robots, as most competitors still struggled with the physical demands of the course.
