GameBench Unveils Free FPS Monitor App

GameBench has launched a free FPS Monitor app for Android users, bringing professional-grade performance monitoring to the masses. Previously, the company's GameBench Pro cost thousands of dollars, targeting developers and serious gamers. The new app monitors frame rates, detects performance janks, and displays battery temperature through a floating overlay during gameplay or app usage.

The Android 11 or later compatible app provides real-time FPS data and records session results, including charts showing performance trends and total jank counts. Users can access all sessions from a dashboard and share results as screenshots. While primarily designed for gaming, the app surprisingly works with non-gaming applications like Instagram and GSMArena's official app.

Despite being completely free with no ads or in-app purchases, the app imposes daily usage limits of 5 minutes per session and 20 minutes per day. Unlike the Pro version, the free monitor doesn't require root access or PC connection. GameBench has indicated they may adjust these limits based on user feedback, making this a promising entry point for performance monitoring.
