Primate Labs has released Geekbench 7, introducing a suite of overhauled performance tests for CPU and GPU workloads designed to better reflect real-world usage. The update emphasizes everyday tasks, gaming, and increasingly prevalent AI applications.

Geekbench 7's GPU Benchmark now focuses on machine learning and content creation, featuring workloads like real-time video filtering, AI-powered image upscaling, and background blurring for video conferencing. New GPU tests include RAW image processing, video color grading, path tracing, and fluid simulation. Notably, Nvidia's CUDA is now supported alongside OpenCL, Vulkan, and Metal.

The benchmark also refines multi-core testing by only running workloads across multiple threads when real-world tasks typically do. Media performance is enhanced with new CPU workloads for audio and video encoding/decoding, including AV1 codec for screen sharing and Opus for audio compression. Additionally, Geekbench 7 utilizes larger and more varied datasets across its tests, with discounts on Geekbench 7 Pro available until August 6.
