Geekbench 7 has been released, introducing new benchmarks for diverse workloads. The update includes a game physics test utilizing the Jolt physics engine, seen in games like Death Stranding 2. New media benchmarks cover AV1 video encoding/decoding, Opus audio compression, and speech recognition with the Whisper model. A Photo Editor benchmark simulates real-world image manipulation tasks found in applications like Photoshop.

The AMD Ryzen 7 7700 is the new baseline for CPU performance, scoring 2500 points. This replaces the Intel Core i7-12700 as the previous baseline. While results aren't cross-version comparable, the Ryzen 7 7700 scoring lower in Geekbench 7 than in Geekbench 6 suggests potential shifts in relative CPU performance as more data is added.

Geekbench 7 also features a redesigned multi-core benchmark that better reflects real-world application behavior, only using multi-threading when a task genuinely benefits from it. The GPU benchmark now focuses on machine learning and content creation, including face tracking, image upscaling, and background blurring. It also adds new image editing and synthesis workloads, with CUDA support now included alongside OpenCL, Vulkan, and Metal for NVIDIA GPUs.
