AppControl Launches Historical PC Monitoring for Everyday Users

AppControl debuted a free Windows system monitoring utility that records up to three days of historical CPU, GPU, memory, disk, and temperature data. Unlike real-time tools like Task Manager, its scrollable timeline shows which apps caused past spikes. The Intel Partner Alliance member targets everyday users with plain-language process explanations and privacy alerts for webcam, microphone, and location access.

CEO Jon Hundley founded the tool after repeatedly failing to identify transient performance issues. Existing utilities either overwhelm non-experts or lack historical context. AppControl correlates hardware telemetry with application behavior through a hybrid driver architecture, turning confusing PC behavior into clear, explainable events without requiring technical expertise.

Softpedia Windows Editor Mihaela Teodorovici calls it a compelling Task Manager alternative, noting its custom alerts and continuous monitoring give users better oversight. The app runs securely on modern Windows versions without security warnings, using an open-source Flutter interface for accessibility.

Privacy is central: AppControl collects minimal data by default, requires no registration, and only enables features like suspicious-app detection with explicit consent. It’s available as a free download from the AppControl website and Softpedia, offering immediate transparency for users tired of mysterious PC slowdowns.
