Premium users in the US, Sweden and Ireland now have access to a chatbot that answers questions about podcast episodes. The company wants to keep users within its ecosystem, following a broader tech trend of building walled gardens to prevent people from seeking information elsewhere.

Spotify is expanding its personal podcast generation tool where users can create synthetic audio content. After entering a prompt, the service generates audio based on your taste profile and world knowledge, with options to input text, PDFs and links. These podcasts can focus on explainers, daily briefings or local concert updates and can be set to generate automatically on a schedule.

Premium users in the US will get access to personal podcasts next month with monthly credits that can be expanded. The company is also introducing additional add-on tiers for Audiobooks+ and bringing its Prompted Playlists feature to audiobooks this summer, creating customized listening experiences based on user descriptions and history.
