Spotify has rolled out its Prompted Playlist beta to Premium subscribers in the U.S. and Canada, extending a feature that blends a user’s entire listening history with real‑time world data to generate playlists from natural‑language prompts. The move follows a New Zealand launch and signals a push toward deeper personalization.

Users describe what they want—vibes, scenarios, or cultural moments—and Spotify curates tracks, adding descriptions and context that tell the story behind each recommendation. The app lets playlists refresh daily or weekly, and users can tweak prompts or start over if the result misses the mark.

Earlier this year, Spotify unveiled AI Playlist, letting users type prompts to generate mixes. Prompted Playlist builds on that by incorporating real‑time trends and a user’s full listening arc, offering a richer, evolving experience that adapts to both cultural shifts and personal listening habits.

Spotify says it will gather feedback to refine the feature before a broader rollout. If the beta proves successful, the company could set a new standard for AI‑driven music curation, potentially reshaping how streaming services balance algorithmic recommendations with user‑defined context.
