For the first time, U.S. Netflix subscribers can stream Formula 1 live. From May 22‑24, the Canadian Grand Prix will air on the streaming giant, breaking the sport’s traditional cable mold. The move follows Apple TV’s decision to cede select races to the rival platform.

Apple TV remains the primary home for Formula 1 content this season, but the partnership lets the streaming service air the eighth season of the documentary series *Drive to Survive*. The deal reflects Netflix’s growing appetite for live sports, adding baseball and K‑pop concerts to its library for viewers in the U.S. and internationally too.

The Canadian race, held at the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve, opens the North American swing with a 17‑lap sprint and a 70‑lap feature. Fans will see teams battle for a first‑round advantage before the season’s third round, making the event that draws top drivers and teams into a tight competition for season lead positions.

Netflix’s entry into live F1 coverage signals a broader shift toward streaming as the primary destination for sports fans. With the Canadian Grand Prix now available on a platform that reaches 200 million households, the move could pressure other broadcasters to rethink their exclusivity models for viewers.
