X slams unverified accounts to 50 posts daily in push for subscriptions

X has quietly slashed the daily posting limits for accounts without a blue checkmark. Unverified users can now only publish 50 original posts and 200 replies per day, down from the previous ceiling of 2,400 posts. The change appeared on the X Help Center and immediately drew complaints on the platform itself, with users reporting the restriction without any public announcement.

The Help Center page still references the older 2,400-per-day limit in some sections, but when users hit the new thresholds, they get an error message indicating which specific limit they've reached. For those wanting to post without restrictions, X Premium Basic removes these caps entirely for $3 monthly or $32 annually.

This appears to be part of X's broader effort against spam and bots, following the October rollout of the "about this account" feature. But the drastic reduction has frustrated longtime users who say it could push people away from the platform rather than clean it up.
