Lego is expanding its Smart Play system with a fresh wave of Star Wars sets. Announced at the Nuremberg Toy Fair, these new additions join existing sets designed to interact with the Smart Brick. The system utilizes proximity sensors, accelerometers, and speakers within the Smart Brick to create an immersive play experience, enhancing the physical building experience.

These new sets include Luke's Landspeeder, AT-ST Attach on Endor, Yoda's Hut, Mos Eisley Cantina, and the Millennium Falcon. Unlike the initial sets, these require a separate purchase of the Smart Brick. The Smart Tags and Smart Minifigures within each set work to trigger unique sounds and interactions. Pre-orders are open now, with availability starting March 1.

The Smart Play system aims to blend physical and digital play. Lego has been exploring ways to integrate technology in a way that enhances, rather than replaces, traditional building. This strategy allows kids to engage with their creations in new ways. The initiative reflects a broader trend of toy manufacturers embracing connected play.

The new Star Wars sets offer a compelling extension of the Smart Play concept. These sets are designed to provide a more engaging and interactive experience for children, while also encouraging them to play together. We can expect to see more of these types of products in the future, as companies like Lego continue to explore the intersection of physical and digital play.
