NASA is broadcasting the Nancy Grace Roman Space Telescope's launch live on August 30, with coverage beginning at 6:20AM Eastern time and liftoff no earlier than 7:26AM. The telescope, named after NASA's first Chief of Astronomy and "Mother of Hubble" Nancy Grace Roman, features a field of view at least 100 times larger than Hubble's and is designed to study dark energy and exoplanets. Engineers completed the final inspection of the primary mirror in late May, and the mission was moved up from a September schedule.

The infrared telescope is encapsulated in a SpaceX Falcon Heavy fairing at Kennedy Space Center in Florida and will launch from Launch Complex 39A. If delayed, a backup attempt is scheduled for August 31 at 7:22AM ET. Live coverage will be available on NASA's website and SpaceX's X account, preceded by a mission science briefing on August 29 at 9AM ET and a prelaunch news conference.
