Nothing announced the rollout of OS 5.0 (Android 17) for the Phone 3a and Phone 4a series starting October 30. The update introduces enhanced camera features, including Dual-view Video and advanced filters for the 3a, while the 4a gains simultaneous front and rear recording. Essential Voice on the 4a now offers faster, low-latency transcriptions. The rollout is staggered, meaning availability varies by user. Both series receive a refreshed camera UI and updated controls. This update follows the mid-October release for the Phone 3, bringing deeper customization, improved AI tools, and the new Geist typeface.
The Phone 3a series benefits from enhanced video creation with filters, tuning, and dual-view capabilities, alongside seven adjustable effects and preset upgrades. The Phone 4a and 4a Pro receive similar AI improvements, including smarter Smart Collections that automatically organize content. Nothing emphasizes a cleaner, more scannable Geist font across devices. Users are encouraged to check for the update, though beta participants may experience delays.
