Samsung My Fan Cam Guide

Samsung's My Fan Cam feature allows users to turn a wide group video into a tighter tracking shot around a single person. Unlike Auto Framing, which adjusts composition during recording, this tool works after the fact using Galaxy AI. This gives creators the freedom to capture the entire scene first and choose their subject later.

To use the feature, open a video in Samsung's Gallery app and tap the Galaxy AI icon. Select My Fan Cam, then choose the person you want to follow from the identified subjects. Finally, pick an aspect ratio—vertical for portrait platforms or wider for broader context—and tap Follow to generate the reframed clip.

For best results, shoot with a reasonably wide frame. This provides Galaxy AI with more surrounding image data to track movement as the subject shifts positions. If the shot is too tight or the subject moves out of frame, the feature cannot recover missing visual information. It also requires clear subject detection and does not guarantee perfect accuracy.

The feature launched with One UI 9 on the Galaxy Z Fold8 and Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra. While other devices like the Galaxy Z Flip8 are receiving the update, availability may vary by region and language.
