Lazy River co‑op shooter mixes zombies with waterpark chaos

Lazy River bursts onto the Summer Game Fest showcase as a four‑player co‑op shooter set in Water Station One, a space‑station waterpark. The twist? Space water reacts to bodily waste—anyone who pees in the pool triggers a reverse flow that turns swimmers into zombies. You and three allies become the only uninfected guests fighting off the horde.

Gameplay mixes frantic gunplay with base‑building. Players lash inner tubes into a raft, then add walls, sails and engines while balancing weight. Water balloons, squirt guns and pool noodles provide cheap firepower, and zombies explode when drenched. Robot security blocks along the river fire at rafts, and triggering the alarm initiates a self‑clean cycle that vaporizes any organic life nearby.

The title comes from Mike Boxleiter, a veteran of Solipskier, TouchTone and the board game Secret Hitler, who assembled a small indie team for a four‑year development run. Lazy River will launch on Steam in early access summer 2027, priced at $20. The price point undercuts many indie shooters. Its odd premise and cooperative chaos could carve a niche in the crowded co‑op shooter market.
