Nintendo is taking Splatoon in a new direction with Splatoon Raiders, a single-player action shooter exclusive to the Switch 2. The game arrives July 23 as a departure from the series' traditionally multiplayer focus, letting players inhabit a mechanic aboard a floating raft alongside the musical trio Deep Cut.

The game will cost $49.99 for the digital version and $59.99 for physical, with pre-orders now open. Players will explore and raid nearby islands while battling the Salmonids enemy that has appeared in previous entries. Customization options extend to both the raft itself and player loadouts.

The visual style maintains the cartoonish aesthetic fans expect from the franchise. Nintendo hasn't disclosed performance details like frame rates or resolution targets yet, leaving questions about how the game will utilize the Switch 2's hardware capabilities.

This release marks an interesting experiment for a series known for competitive multiplayer. By shifting to single-player survival gameplay, Nintendo appears to be testing whether Splatoon's distinctive world can support a different genre experience beyond its traditional shooter roots.
