Gameplay now splits into a three‑tier campaign—easy, normal and unlockable expert—plus a challenge mode with new objectives and a four‑on‑four Battle arena. The arena cycles through control‑point, crystal‑collection and pirate‑hunting matches on Corneria, Fichina and Sector Y. Local co‑op lets one player pilot the Arwing while another mans the guns, and both Joy‑Con and the revamped N64 controller are supported. Players can earn skins through performance.

Online play adds private lobbies and an open queue, with GameShare letting friends appear as Fox, Falco or Slippy in GameChat.
