Instagram adds per‑slide captions to carousel posts

Instagram has finally let users write a separate caption for each slide in a carousel. Until now every image shared in a multi‑post fell under a single text block, limiting storytelling. The new toggle appears when you tap the caption field, letting creators decide whether to add up to 20 individual notes. Marketers and influencers, who depend on each frame for product details, will benefit.

Earlier this year Instagram expanded carousel capacity from ten to twenty images, a change that already broadened visual narratives. Pairing that limit with per‑slide captions opens the door for richer, more granular storytelling. This granular approach also aids educators crafting step‑by‑step tutorials. The feature rolls out today but may take a week to appear on all accounts, mirroring past phased deployments.

Beyond captions, Instagram has refreshed its Android camera with Ultra HDR and Night Sight, and gave users tools to reorder grid posts and tweak the feed algorithm. These tweaks signal a broader push to keep creators engaged on a platform where visual depth now matches textual nuance. The update gives power users immediate control over each carousel element.
