Instagram Profile Grid Reordering Feature Finally Rolls Out to All Users

Instagram began rolling out a long-awaited feature on June 8 that lets users rearrange posts in any order on their profile grid. The update works across both iPhone and Android apps, allowing complete control over how content appears to visitors.

Users can access the tool by navigating to their profile, long-pressing any grid post, selecting 'reorder grid' from the menu, then dragging content to new positions. All changes save instantly and update publicly.

This represents a major shift from Instagram's previous strict reverse-chronological display, where posts appeared newest-first with only three pins allowed at the top. Instagram first announced the feature in January 2025 as partial compensation for users whose carefully curated profiles were disrupted when the app switched from square to vertical thumbnails.

The feature spent months in testing with select user groups before this wider release. For content creators and brands who rely on visual storytelling, the ability to curate their grid freely addresses a longstanding pain point that forced many to delete and repost content to maintain aesthetic coherence.
