Google TV adds voice picture tweaks via Gemini

Google TV now hands picture and audio adjustments to its Gemini assistant. Unveiled at CES 2026, the feature understands commands like “set picture mode to Sport” or “the screen is too dark,” then tweaks brightness, contrast, volume or EQ without a remote. Users may also call Gemini by holding the mic button.

The rollout begins with a handful of US‑based TCL televisions. Over the next weeks Gemini will appear on the QM9K, X11L, QM9L, QM8L and RM9L models after a system update. Google notes that each set supports different picture and sound presets, so confirming a TV’s capabilities avoids wasted voice attempts.

Gemini also handles troubleshooting. Saying “the dialogue is muffled” prompts the AI to boost vocal frequencies, while “increase contrast” raises picture depth instantly. For users who prefer manual control, Gemini can open the exact settings menu, shaving several clicks. This flexibility mirrors Google’s recent “richer visual help” and sports‑brief enhancements.

By letting voice commands replace manual tweaks, Google TV pushes conversational interfaces deeper into living‑room hardware. If consumers adopt Gemini’s convenience, rivals may feel pressure to embed similar AI assistants, reshaping how manufacturers approach UI design. The feature currently remains limited to TCL units, leaving broader brand support uncertain.
