Google Expands Chrome Gemini to Asia-Pacific Users

Google is expanding its Gemini in Chrome chatbot to users across Asia and the Pacific, including Australia, Indonesia, Japan, the Philippines, Singapore, South Korea, and Vietnam. The rollout follows earlier launches in Canada, India, and New Zealand. The feature allows users to access Gemini directly through Chrome's desktop browser and mobile apps on iPhone and iPad.

With the exception of Japan, where iOS support is not yet available, users in these countries can access the chatbot by clicking the "Ask Gemini" icon in Chrome's top-right corner. This opens a sidebar that lets users chat with Gemini across all open tabs. The integration also includes access to Google's Nano Banana 2 image generator and allows users to add events to Google Calendar without leaving the interface.

Users who prefer not to use Gemini can unpin the shortcut from the top of the interface. This expansion marks Google's continued push to integrate its AI assistant more deeply into its most popular products, bringing AI-powered features to millions of new users across the Asia-Pacific region.
