Bethesda is delivering PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S ports of Fallout 76, with a playtest launching this month and a full release slated for summer. The upgrades aim for 60fps and add richer shadows and longer draw distances. All three builds—PS5, PS5 Pro, and Xbox Series X/S—support variable refresh rate. Six years after the console debut, the rollout coincides with the popular Fallout TV series, letting Bethesda leverage franchise buzz.

Resolution varies by hardware. Base PS4 and Xbox One versions remain at 1080p, while Xbox Series X, Xbox One X and PS5 Pro can push to 4K. PS5 and PS4 Pro are capped at 1440p, a surprising downgrade compared with Xbox’s 4K capability. Every version will also enable VRR for smoother gameplay. The VRR implementation reduces screen tearing, especially during fast combat sequences.

Bethesda paired the graphics boost with season 25 content, adding infestations—enemy swarms that guard elite bosses—for a chance at 4‑star legendary gear. A new fishing pool arrives June 23, rotating seasonal catches through fall, winter and spring. These catches tie into limited‑time events that reward players with cosmetic gear, expanding the game’s activity roster.
