Xiaomi is rolling out the stable Android 17 update to the Xiaomi 17 Ultra and Xiaomi 17. I just got the update on both phones today, and there's no telling when other Xiaomi phones will make the switch — my Xiaomi 17T Pro is still on Android 16. Xiaomi has struggled to deliver platform updates on time in the last two years, so this is a refreshing change of pace.

The update doesn't bring visible changes; the phones remain on Hyper OS 3.0.332, so the UI and feature set stay the same as Android 16. The changelog lists only stability tweaks and a June 2026 security patch, with no mention of Android 17 specifics.

Xiaomi focuses on its own interface, ignoring many Google changes. The brand's skin needs an overhaul, and leaks suggest a Liquid Glass style in Hyper OS 4.0, but that won't arrive until the next major update.

Until Xiaomi releases Hyper OS 4.0, users wishing to experience Android 17's new features must wait. For now, the update simply offers better fluidity but is otherwise identical to the previous version.
