Xiaomi unveiled HyperOS 4, likely based on the same core as HyperOS 3 (Android 17). The update introduces a heavily reworked UI adopting the glass design trend with realistic refraction rendering. Lock screen customization expands, allowing clock and notification arrangement, folder resizing, widget grouping, and seamless portrait/landscape switching with floating app rotation.

Performance gains include 18% faster app loading after nine hours of use. AI predicts resource needs and preloads them into RAM. HDR photo processing drops from 310ms to 240ms, and camera cold startup improves by 200ms. Video playback sees dropped frames eliminated.

The in-house Mi Mo LLM powers Super AI Assistant 2.0, handling voice transcription, note organization, photo search, travel planning, and smart home/car control. The Xiaomi Super Island around the punch-hole camera indicates thinking state before showing full answers. A new Inspiration Ball pointer adds context — drag over an address to navigate or an image to search products, though global availability may conflict with Google's Circle to Search.

Public beta begins August 14 in China, rolling out in three batches across devices including the Xiaomi 17 Ultra, Redmi K90 Pro Max, and Xiaomi Pad 8 Pro. Global beta timing remains unconfirmed.
