Apple's next iPad mini is nearly ready, with a new report suggesting it will launch by the end of October 2025. Mark Gurman reports the device will feature an OLED display and is expected to go on sale before year-end. Unlike the upcoming iPhone Ultra and iPhone 18 Pro, the new iPad mini won't be announced at next month's 'Surprise and Shine' event, but rather separately in October via press release or dedicated event.

The refreshed iPad mini will bring several upgrades including an OLED screen, faster performance likely powered by the A19 Pro or A20 Pro chip, improved water resistance through a redesigned casing, and a new vibration-based speaker system. This will mark the first iPad mini update in two years, following the October 2024 refresh that added the A17 Pro chip, Apple Pencil Pro support, and Apple Intelligence compatibility.

The iPad mini's price increased by $100 earlier this year to $599, currently selling for $569 at Amazon. It remains to be seen whether the new model will command an even higher price point. Industry observers question how Apple's upcoming foldable iPhone Ultra—a 2-in-1 phone and iPad mini form factor—might impact standalone iPad mini sales.
