Original Pixel Watch users were alarmed this week after receiving an on-device alert in the Google Health app warning that sync for sleep and workout data would be removed unless they updated Wear OS.

The message stated their device was running an "older version of Wear OS" and would soon stop syncing data with Google Health. Many users expressed concern on Reddit, especially since the original Pixel Watch debuted four years ago and received its last minor update in November.

Google has since confirmed the warning was a bug in its systems and that the original Pixel Watch remains "fully supported" with the Health app. The company stated, "We had a bug where some users received this card incorrectly. Thanks for raising this, it has now been resolved."

The incident occurred shortly after the Pixel Watch 5's launch, raising fears about premature obsolescence for the four-year-old device.
