Pixel Watch SpO2 and Skin Temperature Fail After March Update

Google rolled out a March firmware update for its Pixel Watch lineup, adding earthquake alerts and instant phone‑watch notifications. Yet users report that the patch has disabled two core health metrics: SpO2 and skin temperature. After the update, the Fitbit app stalls on “analyzing,” and no data appears.

The glitch surfaced on Reddit and 9to5Google, where owners of Pixel Watch 3 and Pixel Watch 4 complained that their devices no longer track blood oxygen or skin temperature after the March install. One user noted, “It straight up says no data,” and another said the issue is a bug that rebooting hasn’t fixed.

Attempts to resolve the problem have included clearing the watch’s cache, checking Fitbit permissions, and even factory resetting the device. While a reset restores functionality for some, others report that permissions adjustments alone can bring the metrics back online. A patch from Google remains pending.

For users who rely on SpO2 readings for medical reasons, the outage poses a real risk. The issue spans multiple Pixel Watch generations, underscoring a systemic flaw in the update’s integration with health sensors. Until Google releases a fix, owners must either revert to older firmware or wait for an official patch.
