Google has begun deploying its July security update for Pixel devices, marking the first patch released after the stable launch of Android 17. This update addresses several early issues affecting Pixel phones from the Pixel 6 to the Pixel 10 series. Users can expect version CP2A.260705.006 to roll out incrementally over the next week.

Specific fixes include a navigation button alignment problem on the Pixel 10 Pro Fold, where buttons would shift after device folding and unfolding. Additionally, a wallpaper shape effect that incorrectly obscured subjects instead of appearing in the background is resolved for all supported Pixels. The update also tackles application crashes, incorrect system widget colors, and boot loop issues.

While this July patch resolves immediate bugs, Google is also working on a fix for disappearing home screen widgets, which is currently in the Android 17 QPR1 Beta. The company has reached Platform Stability for Android 17's first quarterly update with Beta 6, indicating development is progressing towards wider stable releases. This focus on security and stability, rather than major feature additions, reflects Google’s ongoing strategy for its Pixel platform.
