Google Messages RCS Issues for Galaxy Users After Smart Switch

Samsung Galaxy users are experiencing RCS failures in Google Messages after transferring data via Smart Switch. Affected users encounter error code 3100 when attempting to enable RCS or send messages on their new devices. Google attributes the problem to corrupted cache files transferred during the Smart Switch process.

Samsung recently discontinued its Messages app in the U.S., directing users to Google Messages as the sole RCS-supporting messaging platform on Galaxy phones. However, the transition has proven problematic for some users who report RCS connectivity issues immediately after device setup.

Google recommends updating Google Messages, disabling RCS, clearing Carrier Services data, restarting the device, and re-enabling RCS. Unfortunately, this workaround hasn't resolved the issue for all users. Some report success only after performing a factory reset, though results vary.

Additional reports indicate similar RCS problems when switching carriers, which Google suggests may stem from incomplete number-porting processes. While Google acknowledges these reports, no universal fix currently exists for affected Galaxy users.
