The Outsiders Adds Advanced Power Metrics for Athletes

The Outsiders has launched version 1.6 with four advanced metrics designed to give athletes deeper insight into their power-based training sessions. The update, now available on the App Store, introduces Relative Intensity, Variability Index, Efficiency Factor, and Aerobic Decoupling to help users understand not just how hard they trained, but how well they executed their workouts.

These metrics build on the app's existing Personal Training Goals feature, which launched earlier this year and allows users to set targets based on time, distance, training load, active energy, or elevation. Gentler Stories expanded this functionality to include goals tied to specific numbers of sessions or time spent in various training zones. The new metrics are available for rides and runs with power data, accessible through the session summary.

The advanced metrics are exclusive to Outsiders Absolute, the app's subscription plan offering monthly, yearly, and lifetime options. Relative Intensity measures how demanding a session was relative to personal limits, while Variability Index shows pacing effectiveness. Efficiency Factor tracks power output relative to heart rate, and Aerobic Decoupling indicates how well athletes maintained efficiency throughout their workout.
