macOS 26.4's New 'Slow Charger' Indicator Reveals Why Your MacBook Charges Slowly

macOS 26.4 introduces a new Slow Charger indicator inside System Settings, alerting users when their charging setup isn't meeting Apple's recommended wattage for their specific MacBook model. This feature aims to solve the common frustration of slow charging by pinpointing whether the power adapter or cable is insufficient. Apple states the indicator appears in the battery status menu and above the Battery Level graph if the connected charger delivers less than the required power.

For optimal charging, Apple specifies minimum wattage needs: 20W for MacBook Neo, 30W for 13-inch MacBook Air, 35W for some Air models, 67W or 70W for 14-inch MacBook Pro, 96W for 16-inch MacBook Pro, and 140W for the 16-inch model. Seeing this indicator signals it's time to upgrade to a compatible charger. While Apple's own options are premium, alternatives like a 100W Anker adapter offer a more affordable solution for faster charging.
