M5 MacBook Air Gets 40W Charger Upgrade

Apple has upgraded the bundled charger for its new M5 MacBook Air, replacing the previous 30W or 35W options with a more powerful 40W Dynamic Power Adapter. This change comes as part of the M5 refresh, which brings the next-generation processor to Apple's popular thin-and-light laptop. The new adapter supports up to 60W maximum output.

The 40W charger represents a meaningful improvement for users who rely on the included power adapter. While Apple previously offered different charger options based on MacBook Air configuration, the M5 model standardizes on the more capable adapter across all variants. This eliminates confusion about which charger ships with which configuration.

Customers can still purchase optional chargers when configuring their M5 MacBook Air, including the 35W dual-port adapter for $20 more or the 70W fast-charging adapter for $20. The 70W option enables charging up to 50% in just 30 minutes. Apple will officially launch the M5 MacBook Air next week, with the improved bundled charger included in every box.
