Kansas City Public Schools announced it will replace its aging fleet of Windows PCs and Chromebooks with Apple hardware, aiming to become an all‑Apple district. The plan covers more than 30,000 devices and centers on the new MacBook Neo for high‑school students, while younger grades keep existing iPads and MacBook Airs. The shift was first hinted during Apple’s Q2 2026 earnings call.

Apple CFO Kevan Parekh used the call to highlight the Mac lineup’s appeal in education, noting the Neo’s blend of price, performance and industry‑leading security. KCPS Chief Technology Officer Scott Jones said the upgrade gives students “the best products,” boosting school pride and aligning with a broader investment in technology that can grow with future curriculum demands. This uniformity simplifies IT management and reduces long‑term maintenance costs.

The rollout arrives as Apple wrestles with a strained A18 Pro chip supply that briefly pushed Neo shipments back weeks. After securing an extra lot from TSMC, delivery windows have tightened, allowing districts like KCPS to meet procurement timelines. With Apple now targeting roughly 10 million Neo units, the Kansas City deal underscores the laptop’s growing foothold in K‑12 markets and influences future procurement decisions.
