MacBook Neo Review:Affordable Powerhouse Shakes Up Budget Laptop Market

MacBook Neo proves Apple can deliver premium performance at a budget price, challenging PC makers to rethink entry-level designs. At $599 (or $499 for students), Apple’s entry-level laptop features the A18 Pro chip and 8GB RAM, handling daily tasks like web browsing, document editing, and light video work smoothly. While 8GB RAM falls short of Apple’s other Macs, its efficiency ensures no lag during multitasking—even with 30+ Chrome tabs open.

However, compromises exist: the display lacks True Tone, ports are limited to USB-C (one USB 2), and missing MagSafe or HDMI. Storage options start at 256GB, but upgrading to 512GB adds Touch ID for $100. Despite these tradeoffs, the Neo’s 2.7-pound frame, vibrant colors, and 16-hour battery life make it ideal for students or casual users.

Its arrival forces rivals like ASUS to innovate, as CFO Nick Wu called it a “shock” to the PC industry.
