Apple Boosts MacBook Neo Production to 10 M Units Amid Shortages

Apple has instructed suppliers to double the MacBook Neo order to 10 million units, after an initial 5 million shipment. The 13‑inch, $599 laptop has become a bestseller among students and mobile workers, yet delivery windows linger at weeks.

Supply‑chain analyst Ming‑Chi Kuo revealed the jump on X, noting that Apple also raised its 2026 shipment forecast to 10 million. The move follows earlier reports that Apple ordered additional A18 Pro chips to meet demand.

The Neo first sold on March 11, 2026, and has seen its promised arrival dates slip repeatedly. Consumers can still buy a discounted $499 model for education or military use, but the current backlog shows that even low‑end laptops strain the supply chain.

Apple’s aggressive ramp‑up signals the company’s commitment to capturing the low‑budget market, but the sustained delay suggests that supply‑chain bottlenecks will keep customers waiting for months.
