Dutch sprinter Lorena Wiebes claimed her second consecutive Tour de France Femmes stage win, adding to her record of 7 victories since the race returned to the World Tour calendar in 2022. She broke clear with 250 metres remaining on a hilly route from Aigle to Geneva, sprinting past the pack and extending her overall lead after Lidl‑Trek’s Riejanne Markus had broken away.

The victory followed a chase that saw Riejanne Markus pulled back inside the final kilometre. Wiebes said the sprint is always exciting, noting that a small mistake can end it, and she will try to keep the yellow jersey for the next day.

Finishing second was Elisa Balsamo, while veteran Marianne Vos, 39, took third. Great Britain’s Josie Nelson and Zoe Backstedt placed sixth and seventh. The upcoming 2026 edition will feature 147 riders across nine stages, including a first ascent of the iconic Mont Ventoux on stage seven.

Stage three near Geneva includes a steep 11km climb before a flat 15km finish at Poligny, a profile that may not favour the sprint specialist but could allow her team to organise a chase. The flat finish could give Team SD Worx‑Protime the chance to set up a winning sprint.
