Demi Vollering secured victory on stage five of the Tour de France Femmes, narrowly beating yellow jersey holder Marlen Reusser in a sprint finish. The FDJ United-Suez rider and Movistar's Reusser broke away with Kasia Niewiadoma of Canyon-Sram in the closing kilometers of the 140km race from Macon to Belleville-en-Beaujolais.

The trio tackled the category two Mont Brouilly climb, including a steep 14% gradient, with approximately 10km remaining. Reusser, who won the previous day's time trial to Dijon, maintains the overall lead by 12 seconds over Vollering, with Niewiadoma a further minute behind.

Vollering expressed her joy, stating, "Today it was really cool race. The whole team, every single rider was part of it." This win marks Vollering's 11th of the season. The race is increasingly shaping up to be a battle between these three riders. Defending champion Pauline Ferrand-Prevot and Anna van der Breggen both lost significant time, dropping them out of contention for the overall lead.
