Hungarian tennis player Panna Udvardy revealed she received disturbing threats before her quarter-final match at the WTA 250 tournament in Antalya. The world No. 95 said she was sent WhatsApp messages from an unknown number containing a photo of a gun and warnings that her family would be harmed unless she lost her match.

The messages included images of her family members and claims that the sender knew where they lived, what cars they drove, and had their phone numbers. Udvardy reported that the Turkish consulate sent three police officers to protect her during the match, while police also guarded her parents' and grandmother's homes. She lost the match 7-6 (7-3) 7-5 to Ukraine's Anhelina Kalinina.

In an Instagram post, Udvardy claimed similar threats have been made against other players. The incident follows Italian player Lucrezia Stefanini reporting threats before a qualifying match for Indian Wells. The WTA is investigating how personal information of players was obtained, as the source remains unknown. This disturbing pattern of threats against tennis players raises serious concerns about player safety and the security of personal information in professional tennis.
