Sir Garfield Sobers, hailed as the "greatest all-round cricketer the world has ever known," was honored at a state funeral in Barbados. Former teammate Sir Clive Lloyd described Sobers, who passed away at 89, as an inspiration to millions.

Sobers, a left-handed batsman and bowler, played 93 Tests for the West Indies between 1954 and 1974, scoring 8,032 runs and taking 235 wickets. The funeral service took place at Kensington Oval in Bridgetown, a ground featuring a pavilion named in his honor. Notable attendees included West Indies legends Brian Lara and Desmond Haynes, Barbados president Jeffrey Bostic, prime minister Mia Mottley, and global music superstar Rihanna.

During the service, Lara celebrated Sobers' "remarkable life" as the "greatest all-round cricketer," while Lloyd emphasized his "brilliance, imagination, courage and joy." Sobers' remarkable achievements include a Test score of 365 not out and being the first to hit six sixes in an over in first-class cricket. His coffin was draped in the Barbadian flag, and a procession proceeded through Bridgetown.
