This victory sets up a quarter-final clash for Wilson against Mark Williams, who advanced by defeating Chris Wakelin 6-5. Wilson expressed his enjoyment of playing in Shanghai, particularly against a player of O'Sullivan's caliber, stating that the atmosphere inspires him. He also mentioned wanting to showcase the sport to his children who were present.
