Seven-time world champion Ronnie O'Sullivan has been eliminated from the Shanghai Masters in the second round by Kyren Wilson. Wilson, the defending champion, took an early 3-1 lead with breaks of 113 and 91 against the 50-year-old O'Sullivan.

O'Sullivan responded impressively, hitting three consecutive century breaks (100, 111, and 131) to go ahead 4-3 in a compelling match. However, Wilson rallied, securing the final three frames with breaks of 89, 79, and 97 to win the match 6-4.

This victory sets up a quarter-final clash for Wilson against Mark Williams, who advanced by defeating Chris Wakelin 6-5. Wilson expressed his enjoyment of playing in Shanghai, particularly against a player of O'Sullivan's caliber, stating that the atmosphere inspires him. He also mentioned wanting to showcase the sport to his children who were present.
