Jack Draper's Bone Bruising: Causes and Recovery

British tennis player Jack Draper has been sidelined for over a year due to bone bruising in his left arm, impacting his ranking and participation in major tournaments. This injury, essentially internal bleeding within the humerus bone, is common in tennis players due to the repetitive stress of shots.

According to Prof. Amar Rangan, the condition requires significant patience for healing, emphasizing rest over surgery. He stated that surgery would exacerbate the injury and that the bone must heal naturally. Draper has sought advice from fellow British players Arthur Fery and Toby Samuel, who have recovered from similar issues and achieved career-best results.

Draper has adopted various recovery methods, including a modified serve, ice baths, saunas, red light therapy, and enhanced focus on sleep and nutrition. Despite these efforts, bone bruising presents a challenging recovery with no definitive timeline or quick fix.
